ADAM DICKSON

Adam had been employed at the Sidney Sawmill and Planer Mill as planer foreman until a lack of timber forced it to close along with the depression. When he heard about a mill being started at Old Hillcrest he went looking for a job.  He helped build the planer mill and started it going.  Many of the men who had worked at Sidney followed him.  John Peters, Art Gibbons, and sons, Ray Pope, Hally an elderly Chinese and Munchie, an East Indian.  Adam lived in the bunkhouse until his company house was finished. Adam and family lived up the hill, close to the Pollocks, Traers, Popes, Drews, Westons and Portelance families.  In the photo at left is Adam standing far left.  Adam continued to work for Hillcrest until he retired in the early 1960's

Adam's daughter Ruth Buckham furnished the above information about her father.
