AXEL FISK

Lorne took this photo of his dad Axel and brother Danny while Axel was operating the slab resaw in "A" mill.  Axel started working on the Timber Deck in 1951 or 1952 and transferred to the slab resaw in 1956 and worked right to the last whistle in 1968.

As related by Lorne Fisk:

My Dad was born and raised in Lillhardal, Sweden.  Dad met his wife (my mother) Annie in Saskatchewan who was also born and raised in Sweden.  They got married and lived in Saskatchewan until they moved to Cranbrook, BC and then to Lake Cowichan in 1947.   Axel worked with my uncle Art Bloom loading boxcars by hand until he moved workplaces to Hillcrest in 1951.  We first lived at Green Timbers until Dad built a house on Picket Camp road now Cottonwood St. and then moved to 918 Stone Ave. in the 100 houses.  Mom and Dad lived there until 1976 when they moved back to Cranbrook, BC.  Dad passed away in 1997 and Mom passed away in 2005.
